Leah Smith, Staff/Consultants
Leah D. Smith served on the Board of ICHIA at the pleasure of the Governor and provided administrative support to Positive Choices prior to its sunsetting.
Prior work experience included serving as a member of the White House Advance Office during President Bush’s administration. This included travel for both domestic and foreign trips to set-up the White House Office and work with Secret Service during the trips of the President of the United States.
From 1995-1999, Ms. Smith served as the Director of Administration/Human Resources for Mayor Goldsmith which included contract negotiations for the unions, as well as negotiations for health care benefits for the City of Indianapolis and administration of said benefits. Ms. Smith also had responsibility for the Mayors Action Center, Fleet Service, Human Resources, the Department of Administration and Risk Management.
From 1986-1995, Ms. Smith served as a Manager in Human Resources at Wishard Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities included administration of Compensation and Benefits, Recruitment and Grievances for union and non-union employees.
From 1982-1986, Ms. Smith served as the Director of Constituent Services for Congressman Burton which included assisting citizens of the 6th Congressional District with their problems receiving Social Security Disability, Immigration issues, and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Association.
Ms. Smith has served on the Boards of the Indianapolis Ballet and Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. In addition, she’s volunteered as a fundraiser for the Julian Center, St. Vincent Foundation, the Indianapolis Pan American Games and numerous civic organizations over the past 40 years.
